'The words 'Winter Lights' evoke a feeling of nostalgia and warmth in me.
I think of the smell of bonfires, fiery red winter sunsets, neon moons, and of cold December nights with twinkling lights on the horizon. Little lights of hope in the dark.'

'The name of this exhibition is a strong reminder of how life is dappled, like light itself. Not all bad and not all good but a gentle combination of the two. Without the periods of sadness and grief in our lives, we would never fully embrace the wonderful warmth and harmony that suddenly presents itself spontaneously.
As an artist, l have always tried to capture these fleeting times of pain and joy and produce work that will speak to people in a subliminal way, allowing viewers to feel any emotions that the images conjure up. As a piece of music can take you instantly to another place and time, l endeavour to capture this in images.'

I really love winter. Growing up in Scotland, winter meant snow days off school,
hot chocolate and Christmas decorating. Now I find it a really romantic time of year. Although the weather can be brutal, it's fended off by big coats and log fires.
The light at this time of year is so dramatic - whether it’s twinkly festive lights
or long shadows in the early afternoon, there’s so much of it.

As the year draws to a close, we'd like to extend our gratitude to all of our artists, collectors and collaborators. Without you, we would not be where we are. TIN MAN ART enters 2023 with two new spaces, a growing team, exciting upcoming projects and ventures and our busiest programme yet. We look forward to hopefully seeing some of you in January at the London Art Fair, and to inviting you in February to 'Strange Dance', our debut show at Cromwell Place.
